Man stabbed near Liverpool pub as gun shots heard by scared residents

A man was stabbed several times and shots fired in a south Liverpool suburb last night.

Officers were called to Grange Road in Gateacre at around 9.30pm last night following reports that a 39-year-old man had received stab wounds and gun shots had been heard in the area.

The victim was found by armed response officers. He was treated for several stab wounds including to his thighs, arm and abdomen.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries were examined and not thought to be life threatening.

Officers then searched the area where they found some bullet casings, confirming a firearms discharge had taken place.

People who had been enjoying a Saturday evening drink in the area, near to the Black Bull pub, posted on social media that they had been left shocked and shaken by the incident.

Police were still in the area today to continue carrying out investigations, including analysing CCTV, speaking to neighbours and locals and undertaking forensic analysis.
