Man stabbed in the neck after row outside pub

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the neck in Little Hulton.

Emergency services were scrambled to Manchester Road East just after 9.30pm last night (Friday February 10) following the incident. Witnesses say that two balaclava-clad men got into a 'verbal altercation' with the victim before the attack, before riding off on electric bikes.

Photographs taken from the scene this morning show blood on the pavement near the New Albion pub. There were also a number of blood-soaked tissues on the ground nearby.

Police have described the incident as a spontaneous attack and have since authorised a Section 60 stop and search order in the vicinity of where it happened. The order will run until 9.40am tomorrow morning (Sunday February 12), GMP confirmed.

A force spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing in Salford and a Section 60 is put in place. At approximately 9.35pm on Friday 10 February 2023, officers were called to Manchester Road East in Little Hulton, Salford to reports of a stabbing.

"Colleagues from NWAS were also on scene. A man was found with a stab wound to his neck and sustained heavy blood loss.

"Witnesses reported there were two offenders, on electric bikes, who were both wearing balaclavas. They had verbally engaged with the victim moments before the attack. They then made their way up Manchester Road, towards Four Lane Ends.

"Police have increased patrols in the area to provide community reassurance and have authorised a Section 60 stop and search order, which is used to prevent serious violence, find weapons or apprehend those suspected of carrying weapons This means pedestrians and vehicles can be stopped and searched. The S60 was implemented at 9.40am this morning, Saturday 11 February 2023, and will run for 24 hours until tomorrow morning, Sunday 12 February 2023."

DI Charlotte Poole from Salford CID added: “This was a spontaneous attack, in which a young man has received a stab wound to the neck. Thankfully, it’s not life-threatening, or life-changing, but it has still left the young man in hospital, recovering from surgery he’s had to have for a very serious injury.

“We have initiated the S60 and we would like to reassure members of the local community that this seems to be an isolated attack. We will have more officers around Little Hulton today and they will be happy to speak to anyone who may have more information on this incident, that may be able to help us locate these two men."

Police are appealing for CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage from the time of the incident. If you have any information, call 0161 856 0949 or 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting log number 003513-10022023.
