Man stabbed in the head in 'targeted attack' in Beeston

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the head outside a supermarket and a takeaway in Leeds.

Police were called shortly before 5pm yesterday (Saturday) to a report that a man had been stabbed near Abu Bakr and BFC on Dewsbury Road in Beeston.

Officers attended and found a man had suffered stab wounds to the head.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

Police cordoned off the area and recovered a knife from the scene.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect.

"The injured party is still in hospital."

Hunslet and Riverside Cllr Paul Wray posted on his blog: "It is believed this incident occurred over a dispute about a phone and therefore was a targeted attack."
