Man 'stabbed in the chest' after serious assault from blade wielding thug on Glasgow street

A man is 'seriously injured' after being stabbed in the chest on a Glasgow street.

The 31-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries after what is thought to have been a brutal blade attack on Saturday night.

He was discovered with stab wounds to the chest on Balmore Road, close to Strachur Crescent in the Lambhill area, around 3am.

His injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening.

Now cops have launched a probe and urged anyone who may have heard anything in the early hours to come forward.

Detective Constable Robert Carrigan, of Stewart Street Police Station, said: "Our enquiries are ongoing into the incident and how this man came to be injured.

"Our enquiries so far suggest he was assaulted and I would urge anyone who may be able to help us to come forward.

"If you were in the area of Balmore Road in the early hours of Saturday morning and may have seen or heard a disturbance then please get in touch.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0717 of 19 June, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
