Man stabbed in the buttock at 4am as cops probe Port Glasgow attack

Police are probing an early-morning attack after a man was stabbed in the buttock in Port Glasgow.

Emergency crews were called to Shore Street in Inverclyde just before 4am on Sunday.

The alarm was raised after reports of a man having been stabbed in the area.

Police found the 34-year-old victim at the scene who was then rushed to hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are not known at this time.

The exact nature of the man's injuries and his current medical condition are yet to be disclosed.

On Sunday evening police confirmed the incident and said that enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Daily Record: "At around 3.50am on Sunday, May 16 officers were called to a report of a man stabbed in Shore Street, Port Glasgow.

"The 34 year-old man was taken to hospital.

"Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish more details surrounding this incident.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 with reference number 0864 of 16 May."
