Man stabbed in stomach during 10-person fight outside Wetherspoon pub

Police have confirmed a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach during a fight involving 10 people at the Joseph Else Wetherspoon pub.

The fight broke out following an argument at around 11pm in South Parade, Old Market Square, on Thursday, July 16.

The 19-year-old man, who suffered a stab wound to the stomach, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre for treatment.

His wounds have been described as non life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "My team is working to establish the circumstances around the incident and we would like to speak to anyone who might have seen what happened."

"We understand a group of around 10 people had attended a pub in South Parade before an argument broke out between them so we are carrying out enquiries with witnesses and CCTV.

"We won't tolerate violent disorder in Nottingham.

"If you did see the incident or have any information that could help, please call us on 101 quoting incident 931 of 16 July. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A spokesman for Wetherspoon said: “The Joseph Else is closed, and has been closed, since late last night following an incident at the pub.

“The police are investigating and Wetherspoon will be working with the police to ensure the matter is dealt with.”
