Man stabbed in Runcorn in early hours attack

A suspect is being questioned after a man was stabbed in Runcorn.

Cheshire police officers and paramedics were called to Shepherds Row in Castlefields shortly before 5am today after being informed that a man had been injured.

Upon attending, they found a 40-year-old man from Runcorn had suffered "puncture wounds".

He was taken to hospital via an ambulance.

A Cheshire police spokesman said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

One man has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

The spokesman said: "A 31-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault in connection with the incident.

"He is currently being question by officers in police custody."
