A 25-year-old man has been arrested after a man was stabbed in the neck and chest in a Liverpool city centre attack.
Police were called out to Slater Street at around 4am on Bank Holiday Monday following reports of an assault.
A 27-year-old man who was found to have knife wounds to his neck and chest was taken to hospital. The man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police said.
A 25 year-old man was arrested at the scene of suspicion of wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
This morning a police cordon was in place at the junction of Slater Street and Fleet Street. The cordon stretched down Fleet Street to St Peter's Square as officers worked at the scene. Police took the cordon down at around 9.50am.
A police spokesman said to the ECHO : "We were called to Slater Street in Liverpool city centre at just after 4am today, Monday 27th May, to reports a 27 year-old man had been assaulted.
"The man was taken to hospital with injuries to his neck and chest which were consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
"The man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"A 25 year-old man was arrested at the scene of suspicion of s18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place."
