Man stabbed in head 'critical' in hospital after terrifying attack

A 31-year-old man who was stabbed in the head in Liverpool city centre is still fighting for his life.

The victim turned up at the Royal Hospital at around 5.30pm on Wednesday ( December 16) with a suspected stab wound to the head.

It is believed he was walking along Hatton Garden, just off Dale Street, when he was assaulted close to the Richmond Hotel.

The area was cordoned off by police and remained closed until Thursday afternoon as detectives carried out a search of the scene.

A number of people in the area have told the ECHO that the victim was pushing a pram when he was attacked.

Witnesses told the ECHO that the incident was "terrifying" and when they saw it they "just ran".

Today police have said that victim is still in a critical but stable condition.

Yesterday police said they believed the victim had been attacked near the Richmond Hotel on Hatton Garden on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation I would like to reassure the local community that officers are carrying out CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries.

“As we work to piece together what happened I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, any suspicious behaviour in the area, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage, to please contact us.
