Man stabbed in Cumbernauld house just weeks after his 'car tyres were slashed'

A man has been stabbed in a house in Cumbernauld weeks after his car was reportedly smashed up and his tyres were slashed.

The 42-year-old was knifed in a property on Grieve Road, Seafar, at around 1.40am on Friday morning.

Police raced to the scene after reports of a disturbance.

The victim was found inside the house and was rushed to Monklands Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Detectives have taped off  woodland area near to the property where forensic offers are scouring the scene.

Terrified neighbours told the Record the stabbing comes weeks after the injured man's Volkswagen car was 'targeted' outside his house.

One man, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's usually quite quiet around here but recently the same guys car had been smashed up.

"The windows were smashed, it was keyed and the tyres were slashed. It's just been lying here since.

"I don't know what's happened this time, but I hope he's ok."

Another woman added: "It's usually a quiet street, so it was alarming to see so many police here this morning.

"I got a fright when I opened my door to see the area was all taped off."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a stabbing within a property on Grieve Road, Cumbernauld at 1.40am on Friday, February 7, 2020."

"An ambulance was called to the scene.

"A man was taken to Monklands Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries."

"His condition is not thought to be life-threatening."

Enquiries are ongoing and police are encouraging members of the public to come forward with any information.

Last month Marc McDermott was shot in the back and backside in Brunswick Gardens, Cumbernauld.

Three masked men carrying guns and knifes chased McDermott before shooting him in a targeted attack in the expensive housing estate on January 23.

A 52-year-old woman who had been walking her dog nearby suffered a minor shot injury to her hand while her dog, a white Maltichon called Henry, was killed.

It is thought to be linked to an underworld feud.
