Man stabbed in County Durham taken to hospital with significant injuries

A man has suffered significant injuries after he was stabbed in County Durham.

The incident in Shotton Colliery happened at about 11.30pm on Thursday, in a grassed area near Dene View on Salter's Lane.

A spokesperson from Durham Constabulary said the victim, in his 30s, was assaulted with an unknown weapon.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers are now appealing for information from the public as part of the investigation.

Anyone who has any information should call Durham Constabulary on 101 and ask to speak to PC 2807 Cloke in Peterlee CID.

Alternatively, information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
