A man was stabbed in what police described as an "appalling" attack in Concert Square.
The victim suffered a wound to his left arm in the incident, which is being treated as targeted.
Details of the stabbing emerged in the aftermath of shocking footage of a separate attack in Liverpool city centre.

The trouble in Concert Square took place at around 1.20am on Monday, June 7.
The victim was standing in a queue for a McCooley's when he was set upon and assaulted. He was left with a "small puncture wound" and needed hospital treatment.
Merseyside Police said CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.
Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said: “This was an appalling incident leaving a man injured, fortunately not more seriously, and we are working to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“The circumstances and reasons behind this attack remain unclear, although we believe that it was targeted at this stage.
“This would have been a shocking incident to witness and if you were in Concert Square in the early hours of the morning on Monday, June 7 and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please get in touch. Information you hold could be vital to our investigation."
Over the weekend, horrifying footage of a stabbing in what appeared to be Williamson Square was shared on social media.
In the video, two men could be seen fighting on the ground as two others standing over them throw kicks and punches towards them.
One man then puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out what appears to be a weapon, before moving his arm in three short sharp thrusts towards one of the men on the floor.
The recording was met with anger as it was shared online.
Merseyside Police said the incident had not been reported to the force but that it was aware of the footage and urged anyone with information to come forward.
