Thugs who stabbed a man multiple times in what police called an "appalling attack" are reported to have missed a main artery by just millimetres.
The young man was attacked and repeatedly stabbed on Claremont Road in Seaforth on Sunday, October 31.
Emergency services were alerted to the man reportedly found on Sandy Lane following the brutal attack which happened around 6.30pm while children were trick-or-treating in the area.

Paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers have since confirmed that the man remains in hospital but is in a stable condition.
His mobile phone was reportedly stolen during the attack.
Just days after the attack, a fundraiser has been set up by a friend of the family and shared by a man believed to be the victim's brother.
A message on the fundraiser names the victim as Dan, and states he was walking to his friend's house when he was robbed and stabbed, adding: "He is very lucky to still be with us after the blade missed a main artery by millimetres!"
The message continues to say that Dan, who had been diagnosed with autism from a young age, rarely goes out and the attack will "knock him right back".
The post ends: "I’m sure most of you will agree that knife crime must come to an end, FULL STOP! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for reading and hopefully together we can put a smile back on his face. lots of love x".
The fundraiser was shared on Facebook by a man thought to be the victim's brother, who said he had been the victim of a mugging and was stabbed eight times during the attack.
The fundraiser which had a target of £100 has already reached over £400 by the time of writing.

Following the stabbing, Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: "We are in the early stages of an investigation into an appalling attack which left a young man injured.
"Knife crime has no place whatsoever in our communities and we rely on members of the public coming forward with information about such incidents to keep our streets safer.

"If you were in the Seaforth area yesterday evening and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please come forward.
"Similarly, if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage then please review it and if you see anything let us know.
"Tell us what you know about this incident and we’ll take positive action to remove those who use weapons to cause fear and harm in our communities from our streets."
