Man stabbed during late night 'altercation' on residential Salford street

A man sustained a "minor stab wound" following a late night street fight in Salford.

Police are turning to the public for help and to find out more about the incident, which happened near the junction of Farringdon Street and Nadine Street on Saturday.

Officers say they were called at about 10pm following reports of an "altercation" in the street and have asked for anyone who knows what happened to come forward.

They have also ended rumours of a large blood stain on the wall of one of the homes nearby, instead confirming that this was caused by discarded food.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman for GMP's Salford team wrote: "GMP is appealing for information about an incident in the Farringdon Street and Nadine Street area of Langworthy on the evening of Saturday, August 15 at around 9.55pm.

"A male sustained a minor stab wound as the result of an altercation, any information would be welcomed."

They added: "In relation to Nadine Street, rumours of blood being found on a wall in the area are unfounded, it has been investigated and transpired to be foodstuffs."

Anyone with information about this incident can contact police via email on salfordsoutheast@gmp.police.uk.

Alternatively, anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
