Residents left terrified as botched South Dublin burglary ends in stabbing

A man was rushed to hospital after reportedly being stabbed during a botched aggravated burglary in Ringsend.

The vicious attack occurred in the Fisherman's Wharf area at approximately 12:10am in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A local source told Dublin Live that the man was stabbed during the incident and gardai were on the scene questioning neighbours and checking CCTV.

The victim was transported to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Gardai believe nothing was taken from the man's apartment during the attempted burglary.

A Garda spokesperson told Dublin Live that an investigation is ongoing but no arrests have been made yet.

They said: "Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of an aggravated burglary that occurred at a premises in Fisherman’s Wharf, Ringsend, Co Dublin at approximately 12:10am on Tuesday, September 2021.

"One man sustained injuries in the course of this incident. He was conveyed to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.

"It is believed that no property was taken from the premises at this time.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing at this time."
