Man stabbed and then arrested after brawl in Halton Moor as police cordon off streets

A man has been arrested after a person was stabbed in Leeds over the weekend.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police found a 35-year-old man at a house in Halton Moor with injuries, including a knife wound to his hand.

He was believed to have been in a street fight with another man and was later arrested on suspicion of affray before receiving treatment at hospital.

A large police cordon was in place for the majority of the day around Halton Moor Avenue, Appleby Place and Cartmell Drive.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 8.20am yesterday (31/1) police were called to a report of two men fighting in the street in Appleby Place, Halton Moor.

"Officers attended and found a 35-year-old man at a nearby address with injuries, including a knife wound to his hand.

"He was arrested on suspicion of affray and received treatment at hospital. He remains in custody.

"A scene was put in place to undergo forensic examination.

"Leeds District CID are continuing enquiries into the incident.

"Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact officers via 101 quoting crime reference 13210051593. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
