Man stabbed and cars badly damaged after driver went on 'Grand Theft Auto-style' rampage

Residents on a quiet Bolton street have spoken of the terrifying moment a driver went on a 'Grand Theft Auto' style rampage.

The motorist is said to have flown into a temper after being asked to slow down by locals and proceeded to stab one innocent man in the face with a pen before crashing into five cars.

It is possible several of them could be write-offs the Manchester Evening News has been told today.

The drama unfolded on Shrewsbury Road in the Heaton area of the town at around 5pm on Saturday evening.

Locals said a white VW Golf came speeding down the built-up terraced street which was busy with children playing given the nice weather.

However when one local went over to ask him slow down, he says he was stabbed in the face with what he believes to have been a pen, through the window.

After tussling with his victim, the motorist began driving aggressively he said, smashing into a total of five cars parked on the street, as well as a lampost.

Kids were left screaming and running for cover with police swarming the street after the alarm was raised, neighbours have described.

He told the M.E.N: "He must have been going about 40mph and there were lots of kids about so I asked to him to slow down.

"Then he stabbed me in the face. It went right down to the bone. I had no idea what it was at first I just saw the blood.

"He just went crazy and started smashing into the cars. There were at least eight kids out so it's just lucky the cars were parked as they were and he hit them and not any of the kids.
