Man speechless as stranger turns up at his house after morning walk

A man said he was left 'slightly in shock' after a stranger turned up at his house on his return from a walk.

The man, who took to Facebook after the encounter, said he had been out on a walk by the Rock Ferry esplanade on September 19, and unbeknown to him had lost his belongings.

But it wasn't until 20 minutes later, when he had returned home, that he heard a knock at his front door and saw a young man standing there - with his belongings in tow.

He wrote: "Cannot believe what happened to me this morning down at refreshment rooms.

"I went for a walk along the esplanade, 20 minutes after getting back home there was a knock at the door and it was a young lad who had found my phone on a seat at the end of the esplanade.

“He got my address off my bus pass and brought my phone, bus pass and bank card back to me!! I could not believe I had left it there and I thank him very much. I was slightly in shock!"

The man said he now wants to find the man to thank him properly for his act of kindness.

The man added: “After he had gone I went back out with a couple of bob for him to have a couple of pints but he was gone.

"If anybody knows who this wonderful young lad is please get in touch. Thanks... There are some good people out there!!!!”

The post received over 180 likes and over 50 comments, with people amazed at the kind gesture and hopeful that they can identify the young man.

One man commented: “Stories like that restore your faith in the youth of today.

"Exemplary behaviour from that young lad."

While another said: “Love this! We certainly do have some of the best in our community.”
