Man sparks fury with "catch a whale" pledge to fat shame women in supermarkets

In 2020, social media can lead to a huge amount of grief in the wrong hands.

While it can be a place to boost positivity and educate people, there's a lot of trolls hiding in the shadows of a social media account, intent on causing trouble - or acting offensive for no reason.

One man has sparked a huge amount of offence online after announcing his plans to start publicly shaming women he considers obese on TikTok.

TikTok user Paidincash uploaded a cruel video announcing his plans to much derision and criticism.

He compared the women to whales and referenced controversial US television programme To Catch A Predator, that lured sexual predators who cruise the internet trying to meet children.

In the video, he said: “So starting from tomorrow, I'm going to be starting a new section of this page.

"It's going to be called ‘To Catch a Whale.’

“You might be familiar with the show 'To Catch a Predator' where they basically catch creepy pedos who try to sleep with children.

“We’re not going to be doing that but To Catch a Whale is going to be a spin off.

"It’s going to be basically me going into grocery stores and shopping centres, things like that and I’m going to be recording the most overweight, obese, nasty looking women that I possibly can.

“And hopefully we can find a Moby Dick, I’m sure it won’t be hard, I know where to find them.”

"That's at Walmart, I personally hate Walmart and go to Target but all the freaks and weirdos and nasty people go to Walmart."

The "vile" video has faced a backlash since being uploaded to TikTok.

One person commented: “So…you’re basically going to intentionally dehumanize a human to make yourself feel valid," while one viewer dubbed the video "vile."

Another replied: "You're talking the way a middle schooler would talk.

"What is going on in your head?"

A third person added: "Literally what is the point. I hope you get help, this is just so unbelievably negative and harmful."

A fourth agreed, commenting: "Don't you get tired being so angry all the time? I don't get why you care so much about what other people look like."
