Man sought after boy, 10, approached riding to school in Scone

POLICE are investigating allegations a child was approached by a man while riding to school in Scone.

Hunter Valley police on Friday appealed for public help with the investigation.

Investigators were told that the boy, 10, was riding eastbound on Liverpool Street bound for school at 8.40am on Thursday when a man sitting on the side of the footpath spoke to him.

The child left and rode to school, where he reported the incident to a teacher.

Police were notified in the afternoon and began inquiries into the reported incident.

Investigators are seeking help to speak with a man described as caucasian with brown eyes and about 70 years old.

He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, shorts and thongs and wearing a blue and white cap.

Any witnesses, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage, is urged to call Scone police on 6544 0199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Information will be treated in strict confidence. Police urge people not to report crime through NSW Police social media pages.
