Man sneaks down woman's driveway while she 'snoozes alarm'

A man has been captured sneaking down a woman's driveway while she "repeatedly hit snooze".

The woman, who lives on Balfour Road in Southport, shared footage of the man scouting out her driveway before trying the door handles on two cars parked outside her home.

She said: "This was around 6am yesterday (Wednesday) on Balfour Road, near Scarisbrick New Road.

"Thankfully everything was locked but I've been told he is trying other cars in the area too.

"Just make sure everything is locked.

"I'd have caught him in the act if I hadn't been hitting snooze on my alarm."

Merseyside Police confirmed it is investigating.

Their spokeswoman told the ECHO : "We are aware of a number of reports of a male seen acting suspiciously in the Balfour Road area.

"Local policing officers carried out door-to-door enquiries in the area last night, Wednesday 15th September, and a number of lines of enquiry are being investigated."

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on Twitter, quoting log 983 of 15th September.

These reports come just days after police officers warned of a man trying door handles in nearby Churchtown.

The Sefton Police Facebook page posted: "We have received more reports, and CCTV of a man trying car door handles on Churchgate, Southport in the early hours of this morning, Monday September 13.

"Similar reports were made from Churchtown area last week and have been circulated around other social media pages.

"PCSO's on the beat in Churchtown have this morning visited some of the people who made reports and made enquiries at other addresses with doorbell cameras and/or CCTV.

"We are aware that other residents have now posted similar footage from the same area.

"Attempts to identify the offender are being made however, it is clear that people like this are just looking for the one car that has been left unlocked and with something of value left inside.

"Always remove EVERYTHING of value from your vehicle before parking up and especially when parking up for the night. Don't even leave loose change in the centre console.

"We encourage local residents to always report incidents like this. Each report helps us build up a pattern and may give us the missing piece of evidence that we need to make an arrest."
