Man smashes stone-skimming record

For anyone who has ever tried skimming a flat pebble on water, you have to see this.

The nine-second film shows Russell "Rock Bottom" Byars smashing the world record for stone skimming (or skipping, as Americans call it).

Guinness World Record experts have examined the footage and declared Byars's stone touched the surface 51 times before sinking into the Allegheny river in Pennsylvania.

The previous record was 40.

"I actually threw 40 stones that day, but that was the first skip that I threw," Byars told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
