Man sleeping on sister's sofa for night found dead by family, inquest told

The family of a man woke up to find him unresponsive after he'd spent a night on the sofa, an inquest opening has heard.

An inquest into the death of Craig Holland, 38, was opened at Pontypridd Coroners' Court on Tuesday.

He was found dead at an address in Gethin Terrace in  Porth, Rhondda, at about 7am on November 5.

The hearing was told Mr Holland, of no fixed abode, stayed at his sister's address the night before he was found.

Coroner's officer Emma Mathias said the family had gone to bed and Mr Holland was on the sofa. She told the court: "Mr Holland entered his sister's address on November 4. On November 5 they found him to be unresponsive."

No indication of the cause of death has yet been given as Dr Ryk James noted that doctors are still pending toxicology results.

A full inquest into Mr Holland's death has been listed to take place on December 15, 2021.
