Man slashed in the head in Liverpool city centre brawl

A 21-year-old man was slashed in the head in Liverpool city centre.

Due to the incident last night Water Street was sealed off between Covent Garden and The Strand, while police taped off the road, cycle lane and pavement area.

Officers were called at about 7.25pm after it was reported a young man had suffered "lacerations" to the head.

Police believe the 21-year-old was walking with another man towards The Strand when a "fight broke out"

He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were deemed to be non life-threatening.

Officers said the second man escaped unharmed and walked to Convent Garden towards Tithebarn Street.
