Man slashed in face and leg in screwdriver street ambush

A man was stabbed in the face and leg with a screwdriver after being set upon by teenage thugs.

The victim was ambushed and slashed with the weapon as he made his way through Rock Ferry .

The man, who police say was his 20s, was stabbed in the face and leg in Faversham Way at around 6.30pm on Friday, July 19.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said the victim was taken to hospital - but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A screwdriver was found nearby and recovered for forensic enquiries.

The police spokesman added: "At around 6.30pm, emergency services were called to reports of a man in his 20s being stabbed in the face and leg in Faversham Way. He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries."

Police confirmed two teenager have been arrested and charged over the stabbing.

A 15-year-old boy from New Ferry and a 14-year-old boy from Tranmere were due before Merseyside Youth Remand Court this morning charged with wounding with intent.
