Man slashed in cheek in sickening pub attack refuses to speak to police

A man was stabbed in the cheek in a sickening attack at a Liverpool pub last night.

The victim in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with a gaping wound to the face after being slashed outside the Hare and Hounds Pub in West Derby Village shortly after midnight.

A mystery surrounds the circumstances of the horrific stabbing which officers believe to be a targeted attack on the victim.

Police say "anyone brandishing a bladed weapon is risking ruining the lives of the victim and themselves."

Police called to a stabbing at the Hare and Hounds pub (LGM999s)

Detective Inspector Sabi Kaur said: “We are unclear as to the exact circumstances, but believe it to be a targeted attack. Were you in or near to the pub around midnight and saw or heard anything? You may live locally or have been passing in a vehicle, so please check any CCTV or dashcam as this represent vital evidence.

“Thankfully no more serious wounds were sustained but anyone brandishing a bladed weapon is risking ruining the lives of the victim and themselves.

“If you have any information on the possession or storage of knives or any weapons, please come forward directly or anonymously and, as we have continued to do this week, we will remove weapons and people who choose to use them from the streets.”

Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 with reference 16 of 13 July or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
