Man slashed by knife-wielding robber in gang attack for mobile phone

A man was slashed in the face and stomach in a street robbery by knife-wielding thugs in Chorlton.

The victim was walking back from shops to his home when he was attacked by the group of men in St Brannocks Road today.

He was surrounded by the gang and  cut in the mouth and chest as they robbed him.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a man had been walking home from a shop on Wilbraham Road around 7am this morning when he was approached by one of the group threatening him with a knife.

It is believed the offender stole his mobile phone before using the knife to inflict minor injuries to his stomach. He was taken to hospital but is said to be recovering well.

GMP said in a statement: "We were called around 8.15am to reports that a man in his 20s has been injured in an altercation with other men in Chorlton.

"He received cuts to his stomach and mouth. He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and was released soon after."
