Man slashed at his front door as he desperately tried to stop two thugs getting in

A man was slashed as he tried to close the front door on two men who had tried to get into his house.

The frightening incident happened at 10.45pm on Sunday (May 16) in Warrington.

Police said the victim, a 60-year-old man, opened the front door to the house on Trefoil Close, Birchwood and was attacked.

As he tried to close the door he was reportedly slashed with a "sharp implement" and had to be treated in hospital.

The two men then left on foot.

The first man is described as being of stocky build and wearing a hooded Nike top, tracksuit bottoms and gloves.

The second man was of stocky build, wearing a mask, a Nike hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms with a stripe down the side, and trainers.

DC Lauren Caskie said: “I’d urge anyone with information, whether that’s CCTV, dash cam footage or you witnessed suspicious activity in the area, to contact us.”
