A man was rushed to hospital after a horror attack in broad daylight on a busy Paisley street.

Dozens of police officers swarmed to the scene yesterday afternoon following the incident on Seedhill Road.

It’s understood the man was ‘slashed and stabbed’ in the violent attack following reports from neighbours on the busy street.

The man, whose age is not known, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

One woman who lives on Seedhill Road, told the Express that police were stopping people leaving their homes while they cordoned off the area.

She said: “The police won’t let my son leave his building to go to work.

“The man was slashed in the face and stabbed in the upper torso area.”

Passers-by reported that dozens of police officers were in the area just after the attack took place around 2.40pm.

Police cars and ambulances could also be seen on the busy street, with police taping off access to the public at Violet Street and Hawkhead Road.

Those living in nearby houses were prevented from entering there building as the police corden taped off a number of residential homes.

One passer-by who witnessed the commotion, said: “Only some pedestrians were allowed to access to the street but anyone trying to drive to their home was turned away.

“They have cordoned off such a big area and there are dozens of police officers everywhere.

“The dog branch was here too.

“It was such a big response.

“It is such a busy street and there are so many houses, so for this to happen in broad daylight is really shocking.”

Paisley CID confirmed yesterday afternoon that officers were on the scene dealing with an ongoing incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers are currently on the scene at Seedhill Road following an incident at
2.40pm.

“A man has been injured and has been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.”
