Man slashed across face outside pub in front of terrified drinkers

A man suffered serious injuries after he was slashed across the face outside a pub last weekend.

The victim was attacked at around 10pm on Saturday, December 18, in front of many people enjoying a festive drink.

Emergency services attended the scene, outside the Jubliee Inn on Hatton Hill Road, Litherland, and took the man, in his 40s, to hospital with serious face injuries.

Police have today confirmed he has since been discharged from hospital but the outcome could have been 'catastrophic.'

Detectives are appealing for information, as they believe the suspect is a white man, in his 20s, with curly brown hair.

The suspect is reported to have left the scene in a black Volvo S60.

Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: "This would have been an awful incident for anyone to witness and we are working hard to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.

"Such violence in our communities can have catastrophic consequences and will not be tolerated.

"We know that there were many people in the area outside the pub on Saturday evening who may have witnessed the attack and so if you saw anything or captured any mobile phone footage then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our investigation.

"Similarly if you were driving in the Hatton Hill area on Saturday and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything suspicious. We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a black Volvo S60 in the area.

"Whether you come forward to us directly, or anonymously through Crimestoppers, let us know so that we can take action."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 21000874479.

You can also call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111, or their online form at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously.
