Man slams Ryanair over invalid vouchers after Tenerife to Bristol Airport flight delayed by three hours

A Ryanair passenger has slammed the airline over 'invalid' vouchers he and other passengers were given after a three-hour delay.

Frank Long was travelling from Tenerife to Bristol Airport on Thursday, January 16, when the delay was announced to the dozens of passengers.

He says they were repeatedly given vouchers and discounts which were not valid, leading to a "lot of antagonism" on the plane.

At first, they received a text from the airline apologising for the delay and saying they could get a discount at restaurants and cafés in the airport.

"Everybody was wandering back and forth but staff said the discounts hadn't been put in their system," Mr Long said.

"People were disgrunted. Some had made five journeys to get some food or a coffee."

He claims a person on the Ryanair desk soon apologised and added that the details of the discount had not been sent through.

But he says things then became even more frustrating for passengers as the flight finally arrived.

"We were given two refreshment vouchers when we went through the departure gate," Mr Long continued.

"But when we got on the plane, we were told the vouchers could only be used at the airport.

"The crew said they cannot accept these and they were not redeemable so there was a lot of antagonism on the plane - some people were really upset.

"It's no way to treat passengers. They were a lot of vulnerable and elderly people on the plane - it's just intolerable."

Mr Long said he will continue flying with Ryanair in the future but urged the airline to review their procedures for when delays happen.

"They have to have their strategies right and look after the public," he said.

Ryanair has been contacted for comment.
