The Irish accent seems to be one that people from all around the world try to replicate but rarely get right - especially Americans.
Even the most accomplished actors in Hollywood are regularly criticised for their attempts at the very specific accent, most recently both Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan - an actual Irish man - received widespread criticism for their rural Irish accent attempts in the movie 'Wild Mountain Thyme'.
The same is apparently true for Irish people who attempt American accents according to one social media user on video sharing app TikTok.
Matt Conaghan who lives and works in Dublin but is originally from Washington achieved viral fame recently for letting the Irish people know that their impressions of the American accent are actually quite bad.
In his TikTok videos Matt imitates how Irish people sound like when trying to do the American accent.
Titled "How Irish People do American Accents", Matt has made three videos in the series which have amassed over one million views.
Matt also posts daily videos on the platform doing impressions of famous figures like American movie star Matthew McConaughey.
Matt moved to Dublin to work with his brother for 'Change Donations', a company that helps Irish non-profit organisations raise money through the power of spare change.
