Man slammed by housemate's girlfriend for walking around the flat in his underwear

A man has faced a heavy backlash from his room mate's girlfriend for wandering around his apartment in next to no clothes. The man took to Reddit to explain that he grew up with lots of brothers so felt comfortable walking around the house just in his underwear when he moved into his newest apartment. When he asked his two room mates if they minded, they both said they were not fussed what he walked around in.

The author, who remained anonymous, explained: "When I moved out I understood that not everyone grew up this way. So I asked my two roommates if they care."

Both room mates answered by saying they did not care what he walked around in. However, things started to change recently when his room mate had his girlfriend over who comes to stay with him a couple of times a week.

He said: "I was in the kitchen making a fairly elaborate meal that I couldn’t just walk away from, wearing nothing but boxer briefs.

"My roommate and his girlfriend walked in. I barely know her, and our work schedules used to mean we never saw each other, but now I work from home. She only sleeps here about once or twice a week and it’s very irregular when those days are."

But the girlfriend was less than impressed to see him just wearing his underwear while cooking and decided to discuss it with him the following morning on his way to the bathroom.

He said: "At this point I’m once again just in my underwear. She says that she doesn’t appreciate me lounging around in underwear..

"I told her I didn’t know she’d be there, and she said now that I know she comes around I should be better prepared.

"I said if she texts me a heads up she’s coming over I’ll dress accordingly, but she said she can’t do that every time and I should just always be dressed in common areas to be prepared. I said that as she doesn’t live there she doesn’t get to decide."

In response, many have been quick to support the author as one wrote: "Your home, not hers. She wants a say, she pays a full 1/4th of the rent and utilities. 2: You offered a reasonable fix, namely 'let me know and I'll put on pants.'"

While another said: "Especially since the roommates already said they were fine with OP [the original poster] being in common areas in their boxers. He did the due diligence."
