A clip showing a handy hack to easily remove the shell from a boiled egg has attracted a lot of attention on social media - for all the wrong reasons.
The nine second video shows a man drop a boiled egg into a tumbler glass before filling it with water.
He then places his hands over the glass and vigorously shakes it from side to side so the egg bounces off the sides.
The egg is then lifted out and the cracked shell is pinched at the bottom to come off in one complete piece, leaving behind a spotless boiled eggs you've only seen in your dreams.
The trick was shared on Twitter by @backt0nature with the caption 'Eggxactly how to peel a boiled egg', where it racked up more than 3,000 likes and almost 750 comments.
Although some were sceptical about the life hack at first, many found it worked like a charm after giving it a go themselves.
One replied: "I've done this! Totally works."
A second wrote: "Now that’s a beautiful thing."
Another added their own tips, saying: "Forgetting to mention that you need to do this while the egg is still hot.
"The water needs to be cold as well - you’re essentially 'shocking' the egg out of its shell.
"You can do the same thing with tomatoes & other thin-skinned vegetables/fruit too."
Despite praise for the technique, the majority of comments spotted one major problem with the viral clip.
After the man fills the glass with water, he continues his step-by-step guide to peeling the egg leaving the tap on full blast behind - and it didn't go unnoticed.
One raged: "While I’m impressed by the trick, remember to turn off the tap the next time you do this. Kills me to watch such wastage of water."
Another commented: "Nice. But please: stop the water."
A third wrote: "Wasted water. If you can’t peel a properly boiled egg without this, there’s no hope for you."
