A man died two weeks after he was shot while riding in a vehicle near McKinley Park on the South Side.

Ignacio Mora, 18, was pronounced dead Tuesday at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

About 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 30, Mora was riding in a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man in the 3900 block of South Ashland Avenue, Chicago police and the medical examiner’s office said.

Mora pulled a gun on the older man and a struggle ensued, authorities said. The gun went off as the two were fighting over it, striking Mora.

An autopsy released Wednesday found Mora died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

The man behind the wheel was taken into custody for questioning, but was later released without charges, police said.
