A man has been shot and two people threatened with a knife in separate early morning attacks in the NSW city of Queanbeyan, near Canberra.

Detectives have launched an investigation into whether the two incidents are linked.

Police said at 6:15am today, an unknown man got into a car parked outside KFC on Wanniassa Road in Queanbeyan East.

He threatened the two men inside the car, aged 32 and 60, with a knife.

The man then fled the car alongside a woman and another man in a blue Ford Focus with NSW number plates.

This afternoon police arrested the woman, 36, in Batemans Bay after a short pursuit.

They continue to search for her two passengers, a male and a female.
