
A 29-year-old man was shot to death Thursday in Austin on the West Side.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 12:40 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Thomas Street and found the man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body, Chicago police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told police the man was sitting in a vehicle on the corner when someone dressed in black approached from behind and fired several rounds into the vehicle.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet confirmed the man’s death.
Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
