Man shot to death during argument in Jeffery Manor: police

A man was killed in a shooting Friday in Jeffery Manor on the South Side.

The 36-year-old was at a party about 11 p.m. in the 9900 block of South Van Vlissingen Road when he got into an argument with a male family member, according to Chicago police. The relative pilled out a gun and shot the man in the abdomen.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the fatality.

The suspect was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered at the scene, police said. Area Two detectives are investigating.
