A 49-year-old man was shot Tuesday morning as he sat on a porch in Roseland on the Far South Side.
A gunman parked in an alley, walked to the porch and shot the man in his arm, Chicago police said in a statement.
The shooting happened about 6:50 a.m. in the 11400 block of South Harvard Avenue.
The gunman drove off and hasn’t been arrested, police said.
The 49-year-old was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
Monday night, another man was seriously wounded in a shooting a few blocks away. A 27-year-old was walking in the 200 block of West 112th Street at 10:30 p.m. when someone fired shots from within a passing white SUV, police said.
The man was taken to Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Both shootings happened in Chicago police’s 5th District, which has recorded 202 shootings in 2020 through Dec. 20.
The district has seen a 28% increase in shootings compared with the same time last year, according to police statistics.
The increase is still below the citywide average increase in shootings, which has spiked 54% since 2019.
