A person is in custody after a man was shot multiple times Monday in Austin on the West Side.
The 18-year-old was in a parking lot about 4:13 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone approached him, pulled out a handgun and opened fire, Chicago police said.
The man was hit in the chest, buttocks and abdomen, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
A 22-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, and a weapon was recovered, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
