A man was killed in a shooting Wednesday in Lawndale on the West Side, police said.

He was on a sidewalk about 4:55 p.m. in the 1500 block of South St. Louis Avenue when someone opened fire, Chicago police said. The shooter ran off in an unknown direction.

The 20-year-old was hit in the back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.

Earlier this month, a man was killed and a woman was wounded in shooting about a block away.
