A man was fatally shot Thursday in the drive-through of a Walgreens in Chatham on the South Side, according to police.

Kendredge T.E. Dillard, 27, was sitting in a vehicle about 9:45 p.m. in the first block of East 75th Street when someone in a black sedan opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Dillard, who lived in Chatham, was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

A female in the passenger seat was taken to St. Bernard Hospital with minor injuries from cuts due to broken glass, police said.

As freezing rain fell over Chatham, a group of people stood under the awning of the gas station next door, discussing the shooting that had transpired earlier. A clerk said he heard the shots, though he didn’t see how the incident played out.

A manager at the Walgreens declined to comment on the shooting.

No arrests have been reported. Area South detectives are investigating.
