BRIEF: Man shot in Lakeview fight dies, days after shooter released without charges

Feb. 12--A man shot in a confrontation with a concealed-carry owner in Lakeview has died, according to authorities.

Lazane Clark, 55, was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he had been taken after being shot in the chest Feb. 4 in the 800 block of West Oakdale Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office

A 67-year-old North Riverside man was arrested following the shooting but was released without charges last week, according to Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago police spokeswoman. No charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

The North Riverside man pulled out a gun and shot Clark during an argument around 11 a.m., police said.

The shooter, who has a concealed-carry permit, remained at the scene and was questioned by police, according to a Facebook post by the office of Ald. Tom Tunney, 44th.

The date Clark was shot has been corrected in this article.
