Man shot in hand by Qld police charged

A man who was shot by police after allegedly pulling a gun south of Brisbane has been charged. (AAP)

A man who police officers shot in the hand after he allegedly pulled out a gun has been charged over the incident south of Brisbane.

The 56-year-old man is due to face court on Wednesday charged with four counts of serious assault of police while armed.

On Tuesday of last week, officers found him in the Logan suburb of Flagstone where it will be alleged he produced a firearm.

"Police called on him to put the firearm down. He has received a gunshot wound to the hand," Acting Inspector Jonathan Lavin told reporters on the day of the shooting.

"Police have reacted in accordance to their training and the threat was subdued ... and they did a good job."

The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries under police guard and appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody.
