Man shot Father’s Day weekend dies 10 days later

A man shot June 20, 2020, in the 1200 block of South Farrar Drive died 10 days later at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A man died Tuesday about a week and a half after he was shot in Douglas Park in Lawndale on the West Side.

Johnny Zolicoffer, 43, was shot multiple times about 3:30 a.m. June 20 in the 1200 block of South Farrar Drive, authorities said.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired found him unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the neck, upper thigh and back, Chicago police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Zolicoffer, who lived in Austin on the West Side, died at the hospital at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Area Four detectives are investigating.

Zolicoffer was one of 104 people shot across the city over Father’s Day weekend, and his death brings that weekend’s death count to 16.
