
A man who was shot Monday night during an apparent attempted robbery on the Near West Side has died.
The man, 52, was in the 500 block of West Madison Street when he was shot around 11:20 p.m., Chicago police said. The victim told police he believed the attackers were trying to rob him.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday at 7:25 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
He was identified as Raymond Soni, who lived on the Near West Side, the medical examiner’s office said.
No one was in custody.
