A 35-year-old man was shot during a robbery Friday in Marquette Park on the South Side.

He was in the driver’s seat of a parked car about 12:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of South Maplewood Avenue when an armed male got into the back seat and announced a robbery, Chicago police said.

The suspect told the man to drive and opened fire as he tried to take his property, police said.

The man drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and arm, police said. He was later transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

No one is in custody, and the suspect didn’t make off with any items, police said. Area Central detectives are investigating.
