A man was shot to death Thursday inside a restaurant in west suburban Berwyn.

The man was shot about 11:25 a.m. at Jelly Jam Restaurant, 6300 W. Cermak Rd., where he was a customer, according to Berwyn police. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but died shortly after.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not identified him.

Witnesses told police the shooter was a slender, 5-foot-8 male wearing a black jacket with a white or light-colored hoodie underneath, along with dark pants and a purple face mask.

The shooter was last seen running north on Highland Avenue and west through a yard, and has not been taken into custody, police said.

Though an investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said the attack appears to be an isolated incident.
