A man in his 30s was found shot to death inside a vehicle Monday morning in Portage Park on the Northwest Side, police said.

Officers found the man unresponsive with gunshot wounds about 6 a.m. in the 4000 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately released.

The man’s name has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Area Five detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

The man was killed minutes after the holiday weekend that saw 30 people shot — 8 of them fatally — between 5 a.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Monday.
