A man was shot to death Thursday in a forest preserve in west suburban Maywood.
Authorities responded to the Maywood Grove preserve near 1st and Des Plaines avenues and found a man with a gunshot wound, according to the Cook County Forest Preserve police.
The 29-year-old was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office said the gunshot victim lived in Maywood, but did not immediately release his name.
A spokesman for the Cook County Forest Preserve police said it was investigating the shooting with Maywood police. Maywood Police Chief Valdimir Talley said he did not have additional information about the homicide.
